YES. ALL OF THIS. I avoid it because of the problematic skeazy stuff, but it’s something that I could like in theory? But it’s hard to explain that.
I think I like it a bit more than you? Like, I’ve read some really good fics that make convincing cases for them, but then I’m a Bad Thing away from recoiling in ick.
And canon keeps jumping from making me feel crazy because no ugh it would be so horrible to okay now kiss and IT’S SUCH A TRICKY SHIP OKAY
It sort of depends on when in timeline you ship them. My favorite fics for them have them getting together before Under the Red Hood. (Often the getting together derails Jason’s Under the Red Hood plans).
“We don’t lift weights in order to look hot, especially for the likes of men like that. What makes them think that we even WANT them to find us attractive? If you do, thanks very much, we’re flattered. But if you don’t, why do you really need to voice this opinion in the first place, and what makes you think we actually give a toss that you, personally, do not find us attractive? What do you want us to do? Shall we stop weightlifting, amend our diet in order to completely get rid of our ‘manly’ muscles, and become housewives in the sheer hope that one day you will look more favourably upon us and we might actually have a shot with you?! Cause you are clearly the kindest, most attractive type of man to grace the earth with your presence.”—Zoe Smith, 18 year old weightlifter currently representing Great Britain at the Olympics, responding to tweets labelling her muscles “unattractive” and “unfeminine”. So far not hugely impressed. I mean, I’m going to keep trying it for at least the next month (free trial and all), but I’m not sure if I’m going to keep going with it. Not as large a selection as the American website (or so I’ve been told by American friends).
Hello internet, my name is Traci and I have a story to tell you about Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar, California. It is not a very happy story, but I hope to get as much of a signal boost as possible to spread the knowledge of their unsafe, inhumane, and completely unacceptable practices.
I rarely ask people to reblog for signal boost, but this is a very close friend of mine and even if she wasn’t, what this hospital did and will continue to do is unacceptable and they need to be called on by the public, the state and anybody who will listen.
I’m not even on tumblr much lately, but this is really important and people need to know about this hospital so they can avoid it.
Lifehacker recommended a Google Chrome extension that “pauses” gifs. So, all the gifs on your dash turn into still pics until you click on them. A bit of warning: if you un-pause, you can’t re-pause, unless you refresh. Otherwise, it seems to be working really well!
I just installed it and it works exactly like she said.
You can’t re-pause, but it does stop them until you click.
THIS IS A GORGEOUS THING.
I don’t have Chrome (though I’m considering getting this for Firefox if it exists- really flashy gifs are a problem for me, but I don’t want to just block all of them, since 99% are fine), but signal boost for my followers who have it and might need it.
Damian swirled the cape over his shoulders, and considered his reflection. There was no possible way he was going to wear the actual Robin uniform. Scaly green hotpants were, to invoke the Robin he was succeeding, beyond the fucking pale. But the cape, the cape was a different story. It was absolutely perfect.
Robin grinned at himself in the mirror. “Best day of my life.”
Tim stepped out of the shadow, his own cape drawn over his shoulders to block out the perpetual chill.“There’s something deeply wrong with Batman being shorter than Robin.”
“In comparison to what? The first Robin’s scaly panties?” Damian asked dryly.
Tim flushed. “…shut up, Damian.”
Damian sniggered. Baiting Tim was the most fun he’d had in ages. The look Tim gave him- tired, unamused, with a suggestion of curiosity how much he could sell Damian’s internal organs for-made him silence his laughter. Tim’s looks were very specific. And very, very frightening, coming from a twenty-two year old who regularly took on Tainted creatures.
“If there was any justice in the world, you would have been your father’s problem,” Tim muttered. “Robin- patrol tonight. Get some rest.”
“Yes, Batman,” Damian said, mostly obedient. “You coming to bed?”
“After I check the wards. Don’t wait up.” Tim turned, drawing his cape tighter around his thin frame. Small, even by the standards of the After. Positively tiny next to Damian, who was possibly the only person under the age of twenty-five in Gotham whose growth hadn’t been stunted by malnourishment.
Damian waited up. He always did, waiting to see if today would be the day the wards fell, and Tim fell too. They both knew that one day Damian was going to have to face Tim across the field, Taint-touched and soulless. Tim spent too much time on the edge of the dark for it to be otherwise.
So when Tim stepped back into the cave, exhaustion wrapped around him like a second skin, he didn’t say anything when he saw his partner still awake. He just sighed, discarded his heavy cape, and let Damian pull him into their shared bed.
So, haven’t had much time to write because new uni semester started but here are some little things I’ve jotted down concerning the vampire/werewolf AU I’ve written a few things for.
Jason eventually takes to calling Tim ‘pup’.
Both Dick and Jason have been officially adopted by Bruce.
There’s only been one Robin so far and that was Dick. When Jason joined the vigilante gig he went with the mantle of ‘Redwolf’ from the beginning.
Dick still finds it absolutely hilarious that Bruce chose ‘Batman’ as his mantle, considering the relationships between vampires and bats.
Jason was ‘born wolf’ which means one, or both, of his parents were werewolves and it was passed on to him genetically.
Dick wasn’t a vampire when he was taken in as Bruce’s ward.
Bruce originally thought dealing with Tim would be a simple matter of digging into his memories and removing any reference to Batman, Nightwing, or Redwolf’s identities (followed by giving Dick and Jason a stern warning on them using civilian names while they were on patrol). When he found out just how long Tim had been following them, and how long ago he had figured out who they were, he realized it was going to be anything but simple.
Janet Drake hates that she has to leave her son with Bruce Wayne (vampire) and his ragtag family whenever her and Jack are going to be away for more than a couple of days. However, as much as she hates it, even she can recognize that it’s quite possibly one of the safest places for her only son.
The reason Tim stays with Bruce when his parents are away is because of the time a group of werewolves and vampires (hateful of his parents role in campaigning for the continued rights of humans in relation to the growing supernatural populations) decided to set fire to the Drake home. Tim ended up with a leg fracture, two broken fingers, and an impressive concussion from when he escaped (fell) out of his second story bedroom window. Jason (in full wolf form, courtesy of the full moon) had been the one to find him. Tim had held on to a chunk of Jason’s fur with his good hand and refused to let go (which the paramedics just loved trying to deal with when they arrived).
Side note: My sister thinks that Alfred should be immortal by sheer force of will. I wouldn’t put it past Alfred.
“When gays get so angry about a chicken sandwich, it is because Chick-fil-A has given around $5 million to fight to discriminate against us. When we praise brave Eagle Scouts who give up their badges in protest of the Boy Scouts of America’s prejudice, it’s not about scoring political points; it’s because there are kids in dens who are being taught to believe that they are less than equal. When we rant about the pastor who preaches that gays should be thrown into a concentration camp, we scream out of fear. And our fears are justified — in the last seven days, a lesbian in Nebraska was carved with a knife, a gay man in Oklahoma was firebombed, and a girl in Kentucky was kicked and beaten — her jaw broken and her teeth knocked out — while her assailants allegedly hurled anti-gay slurs at her.”—Conor Gaughan - “We Are Not Arguing Over Chicken” (Huffington Post)
